Too many young people begin their careers without experience, professional networks, or someone to open the first door. Community Builders help remove those barriers by creating meaningful opportunities and lasting relationships. Together, we're building a community where potential has a pathway.
BUILDERS
The Queens Legacy Lab believes the strongest communities are built when people invest in one another. Our mission is to build human capital by combining workforce development with community engagement and education, creating meaningful opportunities for young people while strengthening the organizations that serve Jamaica Queens. We are building a community powered workforce that learns together, grows together, and contributes through paid work, internships, projects, mentorship, and service. We are inviting businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, faith based organizations, government agencies, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and community members to become Community Partners. You do not need to have a job opening to make a difference. If you have knowledge to share, a profession to introduce, a project to complete, or simply a desire to help strengthen our community, we want to partner with you.
A partnership with the Queens Legacy Lab is designed to create value for everyone involved. Our participants learn about every Community Partner through discussions, educational materials, presentations, and real world engagement so they understand who you are, what you do, and why your work matters before opportunities ever arise. At the same time, we are committed to helping our Community Partners succeed by promoting their work, introducing them to our growing network, and creating partnerships between our partners whenever possible. As our network grows, so does the value of being part of it. Our goal is to welcome at least twelve new Community Partners every six months, creating an expanding ecosystem where organizations support one another, young people gain meaningful experience, and the entire community benefits.
Join us in building the future of Jamaica Queens. Complete the Community Partner Application and tell us about your organization, your goals, and how you would like to get involved. Whether you are ready to create paid opportunities, share your expertise, mentor participants, collaborate on community projects, or simply explore what a partnership could look like, we would love to hear from you. Together, we can build stronger organizations, create more opportunities, expand professional networks, and develop a generation of young people who enter adulthood with experience, optimism, meaningful relationships, and a community they will always be proud to call home.
