A FULL DAY OF FAMILY FUN!
Join Queens Legacy Lab for THE GAME CHANGER, a hands-on robotics experience for children ages 6 to 14, featuring four separate 2-hour sessions of fun, creative games, and friendly competition.
Children will learn to control real robots, navigate challenges, compete in games, and work together while exploring technology through play. No robotics experience is necessary!
COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER
Hosted by Dr. Teel alongside community Builders Natasha Miller of Miller's Massage, Sean Cadenhead of Phase One Exterminating, and young adults from Queens Legacy Lab's Community Enterprise Program.
This community service initiative brings local businesses, families, and young adults together to create new educational experiences for children while providing paid workforce development opportunities for Community Enterprise participants.

We're starting with simple, first-generation test robots. These are basic remote-controlled machines, not advanced humanoid robots or expensive technology. They're easy to operate and suitable for the games we've designed.
As we secure grants, donations, and community partnerships, we hope to upgrade our equipment and expand the experience. But the fun and learning don't depend on having the most expensive robots.
We're starting simple, but we're building something much bigger.

Through #KickballQU, we've learned how play and friendly competition can help build lasting community relationships. THE GAME CHANGER applies those same principles by inviting local businesses and organizations to spend time with our families, join the fun, and connect with the community. In appreciation of their participation, we recognize and promote our featured Community Builders.
Phase One Exterminating provides professional pest management services. In September 2026, Sean Cadenhead made headlines after helping Middle Village residents by removing a dangerous hornets' nest without charging them. Read the New York Post story.
Miller's Massage, founded by licensed massage therapist Natasha Miller, is a Queens wellness business offering therapeutic massage, relaxation, and personal care.

Our venue partner, Casa De Iwu, has also supported several previous Queens Legacy Lab community functions and continues to provide outstanding service.

DESIGNER EDUCATION
The Freedom to Create.
The Classroom Is Wherever YOU Are.
Education doesn't belong exclusively to schools, classrooms, or institutions. Learning happens wherever people come together to exchange knowledge, develop skills, solve problems, and discover something new.
Designer Education is the freedom to create those opportunities yourself.
You don't have to wait for someone to give you a classroom. You don't need an expensive building, complicated equipment, or permission to bring people together around something meaningful.
You need an idea, a purpose, a plan, and the willingness to create an environment where people can learn.
That's the reality behind THE GAME CHANGER.
You're Not Just Helping. You're Building.
When you participate in THE GAME CHANGER, you aren't simply assisting with a robotics program. You're helping design and operate a purposeful space for community service.
Think about everything that has to happen before a child ever touches a robot. Someone identifies a need, develops the concept, creates the games, organizes the space, builds partnerships, establishes a budget, communicates with families, manages registration, and prepares the experience.
That's the work behind the experience.
As Community Enterprise participants, you're learning how ideas become real operations. You're developing skills in planning, communication, leadership, problem-solving, customer service, and teamwork.
You're not just learning how to work at a function. You're learning how to create one.
Three Generations. One Shared Experience.
THE GAME CHANGER is intentionally designed to bring three generations into the same environment.
Children ages 6 to 14 participate in robotics games that introduce technology, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork through play.
Community Enterprise participants ages 16 to 25 help operate the experience while developing professional skills, leadership, and real workforce experience.
Our Builders, established business owners, professionals, and community organizations, contribute their knowledge, resources, relationships, and presence.
Each group has a different responsibility, but everyone contributes to the same environment.
Pay attention to what happens when these groups interact. A conversation between a business owner and a young adult could create a future opportunity. A parent might discover a community resource. A child might develop an interest in technology.
Not every outcome can be predicted or scheduled.
Your responsibility is to help create the conditions where those opportunities can happen.
Community Service Is Something You Design.
Community service doesn't always have to look like volunteering, collecting donations, or distributing supplies.
It can mean designing an environment that gives people access to something valuable.
THE GAME CHANGER creates opportunities for children to explore technology, families to spend meaningful time together, young adults to develop professional skills, and community businesses to contribute beyond their everyday operations.
That's community service through intentional design.
Queens Legacy Lab operates through a philosophy of Holistic Generational Wealth, which recognizes that money is only one form of wealth. Knowledge, relationships, skills, experience, access, and opportunity also have value.
When you create spaces that bring people together, you create opportunities for those forms of wealth to move throughout the community.
That's something you should understand as a Community Enterprise participant. You're not only helping people enjoy an experience. You're contributing to an environment where people can build value together.
Understand the Design Behind the Experience.
Consider why THE GAME CHANGER uses beginner-friendly remote-controlled robots.
The robots are accessible. Children don't need previous experience. The games can be adapted for different ages. Parents can participate. Young adults can help facilitate the activities without needing advanced robotics credentials.
The equipment is simple, but the educational possibilities are much larger.
That's intentional design.
The same principle applies to KickballQU, I GET FUNNY, and other Queens Legacy Lab functions. Different activities can serve different audiences while creating opportunities for education, workforce development, relationships, and community engagement.
The activity attracts people. The environment creates the opportunity.
When you're designing your own experience, ask yourself: Who is this for? What will they gain? Who else should be involved? What resources do we already have? What responsibilities need to be assigned? How can the experience benefit more than one group of people?
Those questions turn an idea into a purposeful community initiative.
The Freedom Comes With Responsibility.
Designer Education gives you the freedom to decide what to create, how to organize it, and who to involve.
But freedom doesn't eliminate responsibility.
When families register for THE GAME CHANGER, they're trusting us with their time, money, and children. When Builders contribute their presence and resources, they're trusting us to create something worthwhile. When Community Enterprise participants accept paid responsibilities, they're expected to deliver professional work.
The environment might feel relaxed, creative, and fun to the people participating. Behind the scenes, it requires preparation, accountability, communication, safety, and teamwork.
The better you design and operate the experience, the more freedom everyone else has to enjoy it.
What Will YOU Create?
THE GAME CHANGER is one example of Designer Education. It isn't the only way to apply these principles.
You could create a technology competition, a reading experience, a business workshop, a community game, a creative arts program, or something that hasn't been imagined yet.
Start with the people you want to serve. Identify something valuable you can offer. Consider who can help you deliver it. Build a plan that creates opportunities for everyone involved.
You don't have to create something enormous. You have to create something purposeful.
The goal of Community Enterprise isn't simply to prepare you to participate in someone else's organization. It's to help you develop the knowledge, confidence, relationships, and practical skills to create opportunities of your own.
The classroom is wherever YOU are.
The freedom is yours. The responsibility is yours. The opportunity to create is yours.
Built for our community, by our community.
